A silent guitar is a guitar without a soundbox, a kind of board strung with some strings - which makes the whole matter quieter.
My silent guitar was built by myself in 1996, because there are only very few models you can buy, and because I wanted an instrument for the night, so that I would not annoy my neighbours by my sudden fits of practising and composing music when they were sleeping.
Next to signatures of Roland Dynes and Leo Brouwer also Thomas Wilson from Scotland has immortalized himself here. (...which was quite dramatic, because it was raining, his taxi was waiting, and we were standing somewhere on a dark curb.) Wilson made very interesting music, especially for strings. His works take us to foggy magic forests, which the fascinated listener walks through.
Thomas Wilson died in 2001 at the age of 73.
I hope his compositions will find a place in history.
